“Clearly You Have Too Much Time On Your Hands.”
This one is a real bugaboo of mine.
Some questions that may sound familar:
- How can you spend so much time on Twitter?
- Where do you find all those links?
- Don’t you have anything better to do?
There’s really no need to justify passion, but here’s your answer: because it interests me. Because it interests the people I care about. Because I see the value. And when something is interesting and valuable, then it’s fairly easy to make that extra effort to accommodate it into your life.
If you don’t see the value, or simply are not willing to, then it’s never going to be important. You’re always going to see that effort as ‘wasted’.
Either find the time, or do not. But please don’t criticise other people because they’re prepared and able to do the work and research that you’ve shown you’re incapable of doing yourself.

I see the value. Many of my friends over here ask me why i spend so much time on twitter. I reply “I don't really, just about 3-4 15 minute sessions is all that you need to find the good stuff”. It's looking for the power links (no not the ones that are duplicated over and over and over) that takes time, but once you get your content source down it's easier.
Then i start talking about bleeding edge tech stuff with them, they just look at me funny. Know what i mean, bugaboo? LOL.
Cheers for the post..
Absolutely – really, most people can get a TON of value out of Twitter at just 30 minutes a day. Things only become a waste of time when you waste your time doing them. That's not Twitter's fault – it's the person doing the time-wasting.
Yes I agree it does not need to take hours. Use a service like Google Reader to keep and find great sources. Then you can just go there and always find new stuff to post!
