No, you’re right, but yesterday I think both were down. Twitter itself (as in the web site), and TweetDeck was repeatedly reporting problems with the API gateway, and I had to re-submit tweets 2-3 times before they went, but Dabr just got on with it, as usual. I didn’t notice much of a difference there. I’m sure there was, but it never went in any way fail whale-ish, whereas many other sites that use Twitter’s API (i.e., http://friendorfollow.com) weren’t running at all.

I think dabr would be up as it uses the API?(which is also true of TD of course)

The API is hosted on different servers so usually it will work whether twitter on the web is down or not as per the http://apiwiki.twitter.com/FAQ#IstheTwitterAPIdown FAQ?

Just an idea.

Yes: you can set up a group pane/column within TweetDeck and configure it so it only displays the tweets of people you select. Makes it really easy to follow friends and interesting folk. Try my article here for more detail.

I really need to break down and try Tweetdeck. What I would really truly find useful is a way to search the tweets of only the people I follow, does such a tool exist?
