There’s An Owl For That – Announcing HootSuite For iPhone
I’m a huge fan of Hootsuite. At work, where I manage various Twitter campaigns for clients, I use HootSuite exclusively.
Earlier today, the company announced HootSuite for the iPhone, and it’s feature-packed.
- Customizable user interface with sortable tabs and columns
- Easy navigation thanks to column swiping
- Schedule tweets
- Update multiple accounts at once
- Save searches
- Track statistics
- Share photos
- Import lists
- Explore trending topics
Being able to schedule tweets whilst on the move is huge.

My problem? I don’t actually own an iPhone (I know, I know), so can’t test this bad boy out, but early feedback is very positive indeed. If you’re running Hootsuite on your iPhone please hit the comments and let me know what you think. Thanks!

I like the ability of HootSuite to schedule, but after I downloaded it and used it for one night, I found myself switching back to Tweetie. I do a lot of conversations with multiple people and HootSuite has no “reply all” feature. Actually, with the exception of the scheduling feature, I found it to not be quite as robust as Tweetie. I’ll be interested to check it out again after they do an upgrade, but for now, unless I feel a need to schedule tweets from my phone, I’ll be using Tweetie.

Thanks Angela. Out of interest, why would you ever need to do a “reply all” on Twitter? Wouldn’t it be easier to just do an open tweet, particularly if you’re getting a lot of the same questions (that then warrant a mass-response)?
As an example, the night I was trying Hootsuite, I was in a conversation with two other people on twitter. So to include both in the conversation, “reply all”. I don’t think all the people who follow me need to see my replies in that conversation (especially as it was rather silly and lighthearted). Without reply all, I have to type in one person’s Twitter ID everytime I added a reply. Since this happens frequently for me on Twitter, I would say at least one convo a day, if not more–one conversation, but several people–I use the reply all on both Tweetie and TweetDeck (my desktop Twitter client).
Ah, I see – I was thinking ‘reply all’ would send out multiple versions of the same tweet to all the people you replied to. Does it group all the names at the beginning of the tweet?
Yes, with the cursor ready to type your message after the names.
